Signatories of the EU’s General-Purpose AI (GPAI) Code of Practice have created a Signatory Taskforce to support consistent implementation of the Code and compliance with the AI Act. The Taskforce is chaired by the European Commission’s AI Office. Most signatories have joined the Taskforce, which will serve as a forum to exchange views, discuss technological developments, contribute to guidance, and engage with experts and stakeholders. It will meet at least once a year, with meetings convened and chaired by the AI Office.

The Code of Practice is a voluntary tool that helps providers comply with the AI Act’s rules for GPAI models, which have applied since 2 August 2025. Enforcement begins in August 2026, and the AI Office is preparing compliance assessments and working closely with AI providers.

To ensure transparency, the AI Office has published a Taskforce Vademecum, including a list of participants, and will publish summaries of meetings, subject to confidentiality rules.
