The EU’s NIS Cooperation Group has approved new common templates for reporting cybersecurity incidents under the NIS2 Directive, aiming to simplify compliance requirements for businesses across member states. The templates introduce a standardised format for reporting cyber incidents, which EU officials say will reduce the administrative burden on companies and improve consistency in meeting NIS2 obligations.
The decision was adopted during the 39th plenary meeting of the NIS Cooperation Group in Cyprus, with participation from EU member states, the European Commission and the European Union Agency for Cybersecurity.
The move is part of wider EU efforts to streamline digital regulation, including plans for a single-entry point for incident reporting under the proposed Digital Omnibus initiative.
The European Commission is expected to formally adopt the templates through an implementing act, which would make their use mandatory across all EU member states.
