Spain’s government has approved a draft law that would ban smoking and vaping in more public places, including bar and restaurant terraces, beaches, public pools, sports venues, and national parks.

The proposal would also create smoke-free zones around schools, hospitals, universities, playgrounds, and cultural sites. E-cigarettes, including nicotine-free vapes, would face the same restrictions as regular cigarettes.

The draft law also tightens rules on the sale and advertising of vaping products and officially bans tobacco-related product use by anyone under 18. The bill will now go to parliament for debate. If passed, fines for breaking the rules could range from EUR 200 to EUR 600,000.
