The European Commission adopted Implementing Regulation (EU) 2026/2096, establishing harmonised procedures for the operation of the EU network for epidemiological surveillance under Regulation (EU) 2022/2371 on serious cross-border threats to health.

The Regulation sets common rules for the dedicated surveillance networks operated by the ECDC, including their organisation, cooperation between participating authorities and exchange of epidemiological information, with the aim of ensuring more effective and consistent surveillance of communicable diseases across the EU. The Regulation was adopted on 18 September 2026 and published in the Official Journal on 21 September 2026.
