EURORDIS-Rare Diseases Europe called for a more coordinated European approach to newborn screening, highlighting significant differences between countries in the conditions included in national programmes and, consequently, in children’s access to early diagnosis and treatment.

The organisation advocates greater alignment of screening programmes across Europe, based on shared principles and stronger cooperation, to reduce inequalities and enable children with rare diseases to benefit from timely diagnosis and available treatments regardless of where they are born.
