A coalition of European and international health organisations led by ENSP is urging the EU to step up efforts to combat rising nicotine addiction among young people, warning that the issue has become an urgent public health concern.

In an open letter, the groups call for a more coherent and robust EU-level response, as new nicotine products continue to evolve and increasingly target younger audiences.

The signatories stress the need for earlier prevention strategies, stronger protections for minors, and forward-looking regulation capable of keeping pace with rapid market developments. They argue that tackling nicotine addiction at its source is essential to prevent a new generation from becoming dependent.

The organisations underline that achieving a tobacco-free generation will require comprehensive measures to protect young people from all forms of nicotine use.
