The European Commission will host a high-level conference in Brussels on 16 March titled “Medical Devices: Innovation and patient safety” under the Cypriot Presidency. Featuring a keynote by EU Health Commissioner Oliver Várhelyi, the event will bring together EU institutions, regulatory authorities, and sector experts to review recent developments and discuss the future of medical devices following the Commission’s December 2025 proposal to revise the medical devices and in-vitro diagnostics framework.

The conference will feature three breakout sessions focusing on:

1. Enhanced predictability for conformity assessments: combining certainty with flexibility.

2. Clinical evidence at EU level to support the regulatory framework: the key role of Expert Panels.

3. Breakthrough technologies for better care: turning guidance into reality.
