JTI will build a new, state-of-the-art factory in Ștefăneștii de Jos, Ilfov, to replace its current Bucharest facility, which has reached capacity. Construction begins in the coming weeks and is expected to finish in 2027.

The new investment reflects JTI’s strategy to optimize its global manufacturing network and sustain long-term growth. JTI’s Romanian factory is already a major export hub, shipping 75% of its output to over 70 countries, and the company has steadily expanded its operations since 1994 through successive modernization programs.

The Bucharest site employs over 630 people, with JTI’s total workforce in Romania exceeding 1,500.
