The European Cancer Organisation’s new report, “Delivering Precision Cancer Medicine at Scale”, calls for stronger European action to ensure equitable access to precision cancer medicine. While advances in genomics, molecular diagnostics, biomarker-driven therapies and data-driven care are transforming cancer treatment, patient access remains unequal due to differences in healthcare capacity, reimbursement, expertise and infrastructure across Europe.

The report argues that Europe’s main challenge is now implementation rather than scientific progress. It recommends strengthening diagnostics, digital infrastructure, data governance, reimbursement and financing, fostering collaboration between cancer centres, expanding the use of real-world data, reducing delays in access to innovative technologies, sharing successful national models, and building on initiatives such as Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan to support long-term, equitable delivery of precision cancer medicine.
