The European Parliament adopted the resolution (427 votes in favour, 15 against and 93 abstentions) reaffirming its political and financial commitment to fully implement Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan.

MEPs call for a dedicated EU health programme in the 2028–2034 long-term budget to ensure stable funding for cancer initiatives, including prevention, vaccination, screening, workforce development and oncology data systems. They urge improved, fair and affordable access to cancer medicines and innovative therapies, promoting joint procurement, price transparency and faster market access. Parliament also supports easier cross-border access to specialised care and clinical trials, especially for rare cancers.

Additionally, MEPs want stronger protection for cancer survivors through a harmonised “right to be forgotten” to prevent financial discrimination in access to loans, mortgages and insurance.
