The interim Minister of Health, Cseke Attila, has released funding for the construction of the new Zerlendi Tuberculosis Diagnosis and Treatment Center within the Marius Nasta National Institute of Pneumology. The government has approved the update of the project’s technical and economic indicators, allowing for continued funding and the resumption of construction work, with the contractor already returning to the site.
The project is one of six hospitals funded through the PNRR and receives funding from both the National Recovery and Resilience Plan and the state budget. The updated value of the investment is approximately 640 million lei.
The new center will be built in Bucharest, within the “Marius Nasta” Institute, and will have 115 beds, three operating rooms, modern laboratories, spaces for research and medical education, as well as an integrated digital system. The investment is considered important for combating tuberculosis and modernizing Romania’s medical infrastructure.
